A beautiful everlasting daisy, with pink tinged buds which open to shiny white flowers beginning in spring and going through to summer. It grows as a branching annual or a short-lived perennial sub-shrub with a woody base, growing to around a metre high. Likes a sunny open position in well drained soil, appreciates some watering in dry spells. A good plant to use for wildflower meadows, they attract bees and butterflies and other interesting pollinators. They make great cut flowers as well as good to use for long lasting dried flowers, pick them in bud and hang upside down to dry.

Sow seed in autumn to early winter, they will need protection from frost. Sow direct where they are to grow or in containers, and only just cover with fine soil….planting too deep will deter germination. The seed will start growing in 1to 2 weeks, but some seed can take longer, germinating when conditions are suitable. Flowering is in 3 to 4 months from sowing.

This plant has also been known as Helichrysum bracteatum and Bracteantha bracteata
